Is so2 a polar molecule?

I think it’s polar, is that correct? Thanks!

I agree, it should be polar. But can you fully justify why you think it should be polar when other dioxides like CO2 are non-polar?

The sulphur and oxygen atoms have a difference in electro negativity and SO2 has a lone pair so I thought it would be asymmetrical therefore polar.

That is correct.

You should probably also note which element is more electronegative than the other, so you can indicate which atom(s) have δ+ and δ- charges.
