Yes. The reactants can be in any phase. All the rate equation shows is the time taken for a reaction to occur between reactants A and B (regardless of state).
No, you can't calculate the concentration of a solid. There are other ways of modelling the rate of a reaction at a solids surface (this is beyond A-level) :smile:
