Effect of concentration on position of equilibrium

Hi guys, there's something in my textbook which relates to Kc and equilibriums.

2SO2 + O2 2SO3

Kc = [SO3}^2 / [O2]*[SO2]^2

Say for instance, when you add extra oxygen to the system in equilibrium, the Kc does not change, but...... the book says that the concentration term for oxygen decreases??????

surely the concentration term for oxygen should increase if more of it is being added, right?

Someone help me....

It increases at the moment when you add it (obviously) ... BUT THEN the system responds to restore the equilibrium proportions by moving the reaction to the right hand side and reducing the oxygen concentration.
