Victoria University of wellington or Sheffield?

Hi everyone,

I am an international student in the UK and I have gained both my BA and MSc here.

I have offers to do my PhD study in political science at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand and the University of Sheffield in the UK.

I know that degree from Sheffield is obviously more reputable. But getting a PhD from sheffield (£13,300 per year ) is much more expensive than doing it at VUW (£3,100 per year) in NZ.

If I decide to remain in the UK to do my PhD, then I will must get a part-time job during my study. while in NZ, I do not have to.

Right now I cannot decide between them, because I want to do my research in a more prestigious institutious, at the same time, I am also concerned about my funding for the three years study, though my parents are willingly to provide necessary funding to support me. But I am not certain it will worth the money they spend on me.

I wonder if anyone can give me your thoughts or advices? thanks
