Basically to sum it all up
Polymers are made from alkenes by free radical addition reactions. You need a high temp abuot 250c and 2000atm pressure. Frome ethene you get polyethene from chloroethene you get polychloroethene etc. They are resistant to breakdown by bacteria and thus cause pollution when burned they release poisonus gases into the atmosphere. You need to know the structure for each and their function.
