Electron Configuration HELP!

Hey!

I REALLY need help with a homework question, I've tried endlessly Googling for something but can't find anything so now I turn to you, good people of TSR.

So my question is this..

Write the symbol for the ion with a 2+ charge which has the electronic configuration 1s2 2s2 2p6.

Any help would be HUGELY appreciated, thank you in advance!

2+ charge mean it lost 2 electrons. So initially It had 1s^2 2s^2 2p^6 3s^2. That's the electronic configuration of Mg so your answer is Mg2+ when it lost its two electrons.
