GM experiment

I need to devise an experiment to determine whether all the leaves on a tomato plant would be able to produce Bt toxin (an insecticide) if it was genetically modified to contain the Bt gene (without harming any insects!)

Any ideas?

What is the toxin? A protein?

You could try homogenising the leaves and using various techniques such as TLC and Electrophoresis, but i really don't know if it would work. Depends on the nature of the toxin molecules and how specialised the equipment that you have avaliable to you is. Also, maybe there is a stain for it? All depends on the chemical structure.
