Shapes of mocelues

So is there are 2 bonding pairs the shape is linear e.g. BeCl2 what is there is one bonding pair e.g. NaCl is the shape still linear or does this count as an ionic compound rather than a molecule so it doesnt have a shape like a molecule but just a lattice instead same goes for HCL?

NaCl is indeed an ionic compound, so applying shapes of molecules isn’t really something that works all too well.

When you have a diatomic molecule (i.e made up of 2 atoms only, so HCl is a good example), regardless of how many surrounding lone pairs there are, the molecule is considered linear.
