Is watching porn wrong?

From a purely secular standpoint it depends. Watching snuff films is wrong. Watching rape porn is wrong (it trivialises the act of rape glorifies it even) watching porn in which women are objectified and subjected to pain is wrong (even though it annoys feminists).

So the corollary is that the rules that apply to any form of entertainment apply to porn. Sexualised imagery itself is neutral from a secular worldview but when that content is combined with violence etc the usual moral rules come into play.

From a religious standpoint pornography takes the sanctity of sex and turns it into something trashy and trivial. That has an effect on the soul of a man. Sex should be the union of souls but porn is worse than promiscuity in the sense that it robs the sex act of everything that makes it a human peak experience. Its a form of compression that's as lossy as all hell.

What do you actually mean by trivialising/glorifying? What if someone goes home tonight and spends an hour or two tickling their badger to rape porn? What if they are of sufficiently mental capacity to still know that rape is wrong, they never rape and they don't stop treating rape as a serious crime? No rights are violated, there are no negative consequences... what moral system are you employing to deem it wrong?

But the women have willingly agreed to be 'objectified'; that's their right. And what about porn in which men are objectified (virtually all 'normal' porn)?

Bah, souls are ill-defined and even when a definition is given no one can provide any reasoning or evidence to show they exist.

And who says sex shouldn't be 'trashy' and trivial?

Did, not anymore...

Still not brave enough to watch it though.

I don't think its wrong, personally, and I'm a girl! If you're in a relationship; if anything it can actually give you more ideas which you could suggest to your partner to spice up your sex life a bit!
