G400 or G401 (Work in industry)?

G400 = Computer Science
G401 = Computer science with a year in industry.

I was just wondering if G401 would be the best one to go for at the moment? As the industry may want to hire you at the end of your degree while if you choose G400, you may be stuck jobless.

Is anyone here doing G401?

I did the industry one, you might as well, it gets you nice money and out of University for a year and you get good experience during it.

Would agree that the one with a year in industry is a good choice, I ended up taking a year out of my degree to get some work experience and and I still found job-hunting to be so much of a pain in the arse that I decided to go back for a masters...

I did G401 and would highly recommend it, sure it takes a year longer, but you get valuable experience and it makes you stand out from the crowd :smile:

I say go for the industrial experience one. It will offer you invaluable experience and better prospects. I'm going to have to start looking for a placement myself this upcoming year. Either way, if you do choose G401 and decide a year in industry isn't right for you then you don't have to commit to it. Finding the placement and interview process is hard enough!
