Define "next level" with an example please
I personally think his style is filled with substance. People tend to write off drake too quickly because he's so easy to make jokes of, but frankly his lyricism and flow is one of the best currently. Given he's amongst the best out of an average crop but it's still some feat.
I don't think it's a problem that his songs are catchy either because he manages to combine great s with great songs, which is hard to do.

It's hard to define it. It's like Headlines, when I first heard it starting, I was loving it, some of his lines in that first verse are really good, I enjoyed it, and then the chorus started and it's all 'they know they know they know' and that was just average, rubbish and a crap chorus which ruined what had been a pretty good song.

Drake for me, is a 7/10 type of guy, in every regard. The beats he raps to are good but not amazing, his lyrics are good but not amazing, his delivery is good but not amazing, and his persona is the same.

Also, I get the feeling that he's a bit repetitive, like this thing he does between 0:20 and 0:30 of the Headlines video, and is always banging on about how he had to work hard to make it.

Don't get me wrong, he's good, I listen to him, but yeah, like you said, he's only the best of a mediocre bunch of young rappers. Drake over Wiz, Waka et al for sure, even for catchiness.

I can see what you're saying, and I think part of that comes from the team that he's working with. He's very loyal character so he still uses his producers he's always used, and hardly ever teams up with anyone who's outside of the ymcmb crew.
So then he's kinda left doing the choruses and writing them himself.
I dunno personally I don't read much into choruses I'm usually still mulling over the previous verse or just nodding my head a chorus doesn't need to be so good otherwise for me personally it takes away from the song which is how I feel with a lot of Jay-z songs for instance, I end up liking the chorus and beat more than his verses

I would say he is more a great artist.
He is more of a package than a specialist type of rapper. He was never goin to be the type of rapper to be the best freestyler or lyricist or whatever but the things he does do he does them very well and that will make him great because he'll be able to attract a larger crowd that way
Personally I'd give him 8/10. Very good but never gonna be amongst the best to do it
bye guise, im gonna go watch Made in Chelsea does Come Dine With Me

Well, for his own sake, he's got to move on. I think he's got the talent to be a lot better than he is. He's got a lot of style when he raps and there are producers out there who could exploit that a bit better than now.

Hmm, but one analogy I read is that why would you eat a sandwich with the greatest filling in the world but mouldy bread. The chorus holds the song together for me, I can understand why it's different for others.

Yeah, you're spot on. He's the whole package, and he can sing, and well (from the sounds of Find Your Love). I think he does a lot of things to please a lot of different people and that can sort of come out as him being average, I definitely got that feeling from Thank Me Later (which is the epitome). I don't think he'll ever be amongst the best, but I have a feeling that in 10 years time I'll still be listening to him, I reckon he'll progress.

I'm not badmouthing him for it, anyone can get robbed, it's just crazy that someone getting jacked has led to such a response

Anyone seen the pics of DVS and the guy wearing his chain?
Reply 793
His chain looks like a piece of metal. If I had that type of money, I'd buy something better and then never wear it and keep it locked in a safe but prove that I have it by posing pictures with it with a name tag next to it.
