P=0.05 What does this question mean??

Q) A statistical test showed that the difference between the two frequencies of the t allele was significant at the P = 0.05 level.

Use the terms probability and chance to help explain what this means.

I dont understand how to go through this, first off I dont understand what the P value means,
Is it something to do with the probability of the null hypothesis??

What if the P value is below or above the P value??

Thanks!

The P=0.05 is referring to the 95% probability (confidence limit).
It depends on what statistical test, but if it's above the critical value then there is a greater than 95% probability of the result not being down to chance

According to some questions, if the P value is equal to or less than 5%, its due to chance???

Is that not the converse of what I said? :s-smilie:

I dont know is it? haha

I dont have much common sense.

What does the confidence limit mean anyway??
