Looking at it, costing £4.99, I'd rather use the sample materials that the various Universities produce, and the other online resources.

Your school should be able to give you good guidence, and point out areas where a draft, re-draft, re-re-draft can be improved, provided you don't put off the process of writing a personal statement too long.

If you buy The Times at the beginning of uni term they have a supplement which usually goes along the lines of 'How to catch a uni's eye'. I imagine other papers do this. If you talk to your school/college they may have books you can borrow and generally give you advice.

Yep, we've had several sets of information through from University admission teams, on content of them, and how to come up with the ideas of what to include.

They don't actually come up with sample finished statement, but a whole lot of advice on how to go about it.

Bear in mind also that your teaching staff will have had to attend some conferences held by Universities on what they actually look for in a students personal statement, as well as their statements as a referee.
