Could anybody please tell me how to work out the value of x in this equation:

3 to the power x = 9 to the power x+1

Rewrite 9x+1=(32)x+1=32x+29^{x+1} = (3^2)^{x+1} = 3^{2x + 2}

So if you have 3x=32x+23^x = 3^{2x+2} it must be the case that x=2x+2x = 2x+2
