Normal distribution

When I have X~N(mu,sigma squared/n) what is the sigma squared over n? And why do I then use sigma over root n as my sigma in my calculator?

The second parameter in the Normal distribution is always the variance of the distribution. Your calculator wants a standard deviation as its input, which is the square root of the variance you've quoted.
