The Veg Box Project

Does your local area/university have any schemes where you can get fresh vegetables?

The Veg Box Project - Canterbury Christ Church University

Introducing the Veg Box Project
Led by Emily Nurden, the Veg Box Project has flourished at our Canterbury campus since its launch in 2022. This innovative initiative collaborates with the Academy for Sustainable Futures, the Students' Union, and the Chaplaincy to bring locally-grown, organic produce directly to staff and students on a weekly basis.

Sustainable Living Made Simple
The Veg Box Project offers a convenient and affordable way for our university community to access fresh, seasonal, organically-grown food. By delivering these boxes to workplaces and study spaces, the project reduces food miles and promotes sustainable consumption practices.

Reducing Footprints, Enhancing Awareness
With a focus on reducing carbon footprints, the project contributes to lowering greenhouse gas emissions by sourcing all vegetables from Ripple Farm, a mere ten miles away from our campus. Additionally, the initiative educates participants about seasonal food availability and encourages nutritious cooking habits.

Local Farmers, Stronger Bonds
The Veg Box Project's direct link to Ripple Farm fosters a stronger connection between local farmers and consumers. This collaboration not only supports the local economy but also nurtures a sense of community among all involved.
This is fantastic, so glad to hear sustainable projects are continuing to happen on campuses
