help. (pls give me a full answer not just the MS keypoints)

the label on a bottle of orange drink states 'contains no artificial colors'.
a scientist thinks that the orange colour in the drink is a mixture of two artificial colours :
- sunset yellow E110
-allura red E129
plan an experiment to show that the orange colour in the drink does NOT contain these two artificial colours.
your plan should describe the use of the common laboratory apparatus and samples of E110, E129 and the orange colouring from the drink.
you may draw a diagram to help answer the question.

Hi,

It has to do with chromotography and the process of chromotography. So basically You talk about how you need to draw the line of origin with a pencil and then from there you apply the orange colouring to the chromotography paper at the line of origin. You would also add drops of E110 and E129 to the line of origin. Then you would place this in a beaker with a solvent, but you would ensure that the solvent doesnt touch the line of origin, just the paper so that the dyes arnt lost in the solvent, but instead move up the paper. And then from there you would compare the heights of the orange colouring to those of the E11O and E129 and the Rf values for these. Because it says how the drink does not contain these two artificial colourings, the colours that make up the orange colour would not match up to the same height of those of E110 and E129.

Hope this helps
