"A solution of potassium hydroxide has a pH of 11.90 at 25^C. Calculate the concentration of potassium hydroxide in the solution"

Can anyone explain how I do this, I thought I knew all my formulas but I can't work it out, I'v looked at the mark scheme but it still hasn't clicked...:s-smilie:

Please can someone help me?? Please!!
And now I've found another one I can't do!! ~ I'm going to F_A_I_L!!!

is that a full question?

[oh-][h+]= 10^-14
You can convert pH into [H+] using 10^-pH
Polymorphing
You can convert pH into [H+] using 10^-pH

Ooh, that might be what I forgot...ThAnK yOu!!:biggrin:

1)oki Since KOH is a strong base it will ionize completely :yep:

2) Equation : KOH (aq)-----> K+(aq) + OH-(aq) :biggrin:

pH+pOH=14

pOH=14-11.90=2.1

[OH-]=10^-pOH

= 10^-2.1=7.9 EXP -3
