And how do you propose changing attitudes and values?

So you are accepting that there are such attitiudes and values to be changed?

Education, the media, even affirmative action. See enough women in top business positions and leadership roles, and it will become normalised, which will lead to acceptance and even expectancy. It will also encourage future female generations. Or at least they won't be discourage with the notion of having to go against the grain to succeed in such a role.

I asked how you would propose it and judging by your paragraph, it looks like you do want to use force . Are you not for personal freedoms or choice?

You've basically just repeated what I said? Why has it got to be relative? If there's a problem, there's a problem. The fact that there exists a country worse off than us doesn't make it any less of a problem. I find the social issues children from deprived backgrounds face to be a problem in our country, the fact that an African child is worse off doesn't make that any less of a problem. The fact that a child in Africa doesn't have access to basic food, water and health care is an issue yes. But accepting that our own deprived children have issues in our country does not diminish the seriousness of the child's struggles in Africa.

When do women get more rights than men?

Yes so I do agree with you to that extent. I never said we stop focussing on the problems women face in the West.

There have been 2 cases I've read up on that indicated this actually. Some woman on a night out basically smashed a glass bottle on a guy's face and her sentence was appalling. Pretty sure if the guy had done it to her, he would've got a much harsher sentence. I will try and find the articles for you but you'll have to wait because I'm busy atm.

This was a social experiment but I found it interesting how when a man fought back in self defence everyone wanted to kill him but when a woman punched him nobody did anything.

Oh don't be such a drama queen!

To be honest I value fairness and equality above freedom of choice, if freedom of choice means reduced opportunities for another social group.

Also, I notice you haven't denied my suggested merits of affirmative action, because you know I'm right. You can't despute any of what I said can you.

You said when women have rights above men though? What you just provided is not about rights.

Also, one off anecdotal evidence of a one off case doesn't say much I'm afraid. You give one sentence of when a woman received a lenient sentence. I can just as easily give a case where a girl jumped an old man on a bus and received the same sentence as her brother who was also involved.

It's just tit for tat, and doesn't say much at all I'm afraid.

Through that article I was trying to show the double standards some feminists have.

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/380093/analysis-gender-custodial-sentences.pdf

This document even says that female offenders were less likely to get a higher custody sentence by 73% for the same crime. That's what I mean by in some cases women get let off because of their gender.

Okay, I see your point. But feminism will help alleviate that though, because that's a typical traditonal gender attitude, to give a woman a more lenient sentence because she's more delicate than a man. They should be treated equally.

Nowadays however, a lot of feminists have kind of started taking it to the top.

Sorry if im like butting in now but i just wanted to say some things!

You're actually kinda right about this! Women getting lighter sentences for the same crimes is def a thing! The important question to ask though is "why?"

Feminism says that it's because of that "women are weak frail things who aren't capable of anything"-idea that still kinda sticks to our culture. This is why male victims of assault and abuse at the hands of women are often ridiculed or misbelieved; "because a woman is a small thing so you could have easily defended yourself!!!!"

The thing about male oppression is that it's always the patriarchy coming back and biting men in the ass, and what does feminism want to do? That's right! Abolish the patriarchy!

I am against the use of force by government. I believe in my freedom to work hard, earn my money and do as I please with my money. If I own a business, I want hire the best employees for the job and not because the government told me so

Are you saying that people are inherently incapable of choosing their own destinies?

I don't think affirmative action is an option.

You can't right a wrong with another wrong. In this case, elevating women above men.

Affirmative action is borderline socialism. Look at it this way.

1.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!.

5.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

I completely understand this and obviously I do see this as an immoral and wrong set of events. But, in all honesty, I suspect the '6 derogatory comments' were made by people who were single, or of a young age and don't know better. Also, obviously a stranger asking you back to his house is pretty wierd, but his personality probably reflected what he said.

What?!?!?!?!?!?!

So not knowing better makes it ok? Some men having a personality that women can be treated in such a way is ok?
Feminism is useless in modern society. It's creating more problems than it's solving. :colonhash:

Good post.

He never said it was ok, he said it was immoral.

(Also I highly doubt they didn't know better, they most likely know better, but see no reason to not be a jerk, either way I'd like to know how this problem would supposedly be solved.)
Everything associated with the new wave of feminism is something I completely despise. People needing safe spaces, being triggered by a different point of view, people thinking there are more than 2 genders, and much more. In principle, of course the equality of both sexes is paramount, however the broad spectrum of modern day feminism is cancerous, and I do think it is useless altogether in our society.
