Women only want equality when it suits them!

You know, for a second I was worried you were going to run out of valid points to make and try and get around that by pretending you're clever.

Thank god that never happened.

Indeed, that would have been awful.
If you want to reply to me again, go ahead, but I won't reply or even read it because I'm going now.

Because I am a man and therefore not worth speaking to?

Bye then

Rafael Nadal spent 17h 31 minutes playing singles at Wimbledon. He received £1 million.

Serena Williams spent 8h 36 minutes playing singles at Wimbledon. She received £1 million.

Nicolas Mahut spent 11h 5 minutes playing singles at Wimbledon. He received £11,250.

If that doesn't show that the womens game is an extension of the sheer hypocrisy of equality then I don't know what does :colonhash:

This is a thread about equality not sport so don't go bundling it into a van and into the sports sub-forum :colonhash:

It's about preparation priot to the event, rather than time on court. That's a silly assumption, i'm sorry.

Is that your degrading term for males?

******* feminists :colonhash:

How about ******* ignoramus??
A feminist is someone who believes that males and females should have equal rights THEREFORE feminists can be either male or female.
The feminists that everyone seems to hate (the ones that go schizo and want more rights than men) and female chauvenists.
Don't go shooting your mouth off if you don't even know the facts - if you agree with the OP that the players should have been paid equally by the hour, then YOU are a "******* feminist".

Unless, of course, you wanted the men to be paid more per hour - which I can understand, but for God's sake, stop insulting people who merely want some rights and respect rather than to be told to make goddamn sandwiches every five minutes.

And I'd like to add to this thread that women are still in general paid less than men doing exactly the same jobs, so if one women has managed to tip it the other way for once, good on her.

They should not be paid equally. No one cares about the women's game, people care about the men's game, therefore men should be paid more.

The bottom part of that is ******* terrible. Sexism is bad, look at how sexist men are, oh wait, it's a woman unfairly benefitting from gender discrimination, then that's fine, actually, good on her. :facepalm2:

******* hypocrites.

Now make me a sandwich :wavingtheflag:

Source for the women being paid less.

And yeah the last bit is just blatant sexism and contradicts the rest of your post.

This. Feminism is nothing but elitist nonsense. Fair enough to the feminists who just want equal rights but that isn't the majority view of the feminist movement.

No, I think the problem here is that the only feminists you personally know to be feminists (in other words the ones you've used for reference here) are the extremist ones who find everything in some way or another sexist. The truth is that the majority of us want to shut these idiots up.
You've met hundreds of feminists, you just don't know it.

And we in no way want an elitist feminist society. That would be foolish. Think of the progression we as a race could have made if women were never oppressed. We'd be years ahead of where we are now. Why on Earth would we want that again?
It's a genuinely horrrible feeling being overshadowed by a man, just because he's a man. Sexism isn't official anymore but its imprint is still there. In a few years time the movement may no longer be needed, until then it's all about smoothing out the kinks.

What in particular made you think it's 'elitist nonsense'?

I didn't make the tennis rules up, but then the people who did obviously were trying to be equal and just failed in your eyes, which is the troubel with equality, because it's not actually ever attainable.

Hmmm, looks like I pissed you off. Now how do you think I feel seeing you bash feminists when you have no actual idea what you're talking about?

And I wouldn't say she was benefitting from gender discrimination, if the prize money had been decided after the event in which the man had clearly worked harder and officials had just decided to award the money because of her gender, then that would be the case. But as it is, the prize money was decided beforehand. If stuff like this was going to start being rewarded on a sliding scale of effort, prizes for sports would become pretty messed up.

Make you a sandwich? Sure, sweetie, but only if you manage to actually piss in the toilet and not get it all over the seat

Are people still seriously saying this? It was funny in the 90s...

No wonder you men are all so bloody fat. You've been eating extra mayo on your ploughmans since 1997.

No, no you did not make the tennis rules up. That is an important job, and therefore a man did it.

So you have a big rant at me, I respond, and i'm pissed off

Far from it love.

The prize money was decided in full knowledge that the men would work harder, and in full knowledge that men bring more money into tennis than women. It was also decided in the knowledge that the women play less sets, which allows them to play doubles, and earn more than the men. Serena got paid more than Nadal this year. :facepalm2:

Wow, you really need to come up with an original comment, like mine was :colonhash:

This sentence sums up your fundamental misunderstanding of the way the system works. Tennis players don't get paid (I'm not talking about sponsors etc) they receive a reward that is determined by their achievement. Serena and Nadal receive the same reward because they achieved the same success, they were the best in their respective disciplines. If Nadal had won the tournament but had played an hour more or an hour less he would have still got the same reward.

I hardly think that progression would be as great as you seem to indicate it would be here. What exactly would be so different? The goals of feminism(at least equal rights) have pretty much been accomplished.

The reason I say feminism is elitist nonsense is with all these women who bitch and moan about how pornography subjugates and objectifies women and how women should have more respect for themselves that. What exactly gives a feminist the right to tell another women what she wants to do? Feminists pretty much have this idealistic utopia where all women are doctors or some high-paying well respected position within society. Not everyone can be like that.

Another thing with feminists to me is they also seem totally uncomfortable with their own sexuality and because of that insecurity end up calling men "pigs" etc.

"It's a genuinely horrrible feeling being overshadowed by a man, just because he's a man."

Any women I know as friends don't have this feeling, when has this ever occurred to you I assume it has since you're talking about it? To me it sounds like you have self-esteem issues if this is the way you're feeling.

So if I made a "discipline" of me and my neighbour, and I won, I should get £1 million? I am the best in my respective discipline, after all.

Should the world's best curler be paid the same as the world's best tennis player? They are also the best in their respective discipline.

Is it unfair female footballers get paid less than male ones? They can both be the best in their respective discipline.

You are paid based on how much money is in the sport. That is why footballers and paid more than cricketers, and why cricketers are paid more than curlers. Treating men's and women's tennis differently, which outside of slams they are, there is far more interest in the men's game. The attendence figures for the ATP and WTA confirms this. If there were no male tennis players, Wimbledon would be half empty for two weeks. If there were no female players, it would still be full. Because it is a mixed tournament the women ride the success of the men's game, on the falseness of "equality". This is why they should be paid less.
I agree with the principle of feminists only going for "equality" when it suits them, but, as someone who knows relatively little about tennis, this is my suggestion:

Why don't we just make them play the same number of sets?

The issue isn't really about how long they play, although that does lead to some horrible inconsistencies, as the OP has shown. The issue is more about attracting as many fans as possible, as they pay for tickets and mean all the expensive tv deals are signed, which is where the prize money comes from.

If you made the women play 5 sets less people would watch. The quality would decline further than it is already, so less people would be interested. If you made men play 3 sets less people would watch. 5 set matches, in which the players are able to sustain a brilliant level of play, are what make grand slams great. Take this away and attendence would drop.

I don't believe the female players would be able to sustain the same quality of play they do at the moment over 5 sets. It's biology.

Women make up over 50% of the population. Of course it would have been greater.
In standardised jobs men get paid more than women. This isn't equal.
These feminists obviosly have bad taste in porn  for this, surely we should pity them?
They also call women who are comfortable with their sexuality wh*res and sl*ts and such. Hence we're back to the elitist fems. of which there are few and far between yet everyone knows of.
Most women I know have felt this way at least once. Little instances that add up to quite a lot in the long run. Very mundane things such as men being taken more seriously for the same claims, and don't even get me started on presentations.
I think it's fair to say I have no problems with self-esteem.

you didnt mention that mahut was involved in the longest tennis match in all of history... & they aren't really paid per/hour for playing time at wimbledeon, the pay refelcts their skill and all of the time they put into their training, im sure the time played in tennis matches is nothing compared to their time spent training

Can't really disagree with any of that.

Well it's the same for everything. Women, black people, disabled people.

Basically everyone who works for the BBC.

Why would you care? And I agree with schoolstudent, I'm sure they have trained equally as hard..

Who are you trying to kid? Do you really think women can train as physically as hard as men can? It's just not possible, women don't have the endurance, strength, and body physique to equal men when it comes to any training for sports.

And i do agree this whole femenist movement rubbish is starting to grate a little now, and rather than it being an issue of equality, it just seems to be a way for women to throw their toys out of their pram when things don't go their way.
