We are just about to start our experiment, we need our consent forms done but our experiment is on the effect organisation has on recall. Kind of excited, but really want it done at the same time.

Kelz_26, here it is: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Psychology-Science-Behaviour-Richard-Gross/dp/144410831X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294870774&sr=8-1

I notice this Scottish Qualifications forum is very quiet and since I got no reply I ordered it anyway. It's a huge book, for that price I think it'll be useful for that little extra outside reading.

Thanks! Let me know if it's good and I might get it too!

Well, it FINALLY came today! I just got in from college and from what has been the most tiring and stressful week yet, so I am NOT looking at any Higher stuff tonight. However, a quick glance at the contents pages, it has the early socialisation stuff and the cognitive psychology stuff. I can't see any mention of the research methods but in all honesty, this aspect I think will be the easiest in Psychology.

Has anyone done the unit 2 NAB on research methods? I have it tomorrow and I'm a bit worried.
Reply 63
I was considering taking this as a kind of "filler" higher, how hard is it? Also how much revision is needed compared to say higher physics or maths.

Thanks

I want to do the NAB for Research Methods, like, now! I feel extremely confident about it, I did a lot of external reading for this unit as I knew I'd just have to top up and expand what I learnt from Higher Admin (I know, right) for the methods of research. Want this experiment out of the way too...

Evan7788 - I can't compare it to maths or physics, but I got a grasp of this subject fairly quickly, it helps that I find it very fascinating too. I would whole heartedly recommend it.

Just did the NAB. Mixed feelings about it. Some bits were simple, some bits hard.
expand what I learnt from Higher Admin (I know, right) for the methods of research.

Yeah, some other subjects cover research methods too, qualitative/quantative methods etc.
I have done it in sociology too.

Done my Memory nab in November and got 16/20 (80%), just done my report for research methods i handed it in yesterday, Doing my research methods nab in two weeks time.

Got my research methods NAB back and did quite badly, the whole class did. :s-smilie: But I passed so that's all that matters. I got 0 marks for a 5 mark question because I talked about observation when it was asking for non-experimental methods to measure cognitive processes.

I thought observation was non-experimental... unless you manipulate things... naturalistic observation is definitely non-experimental...

Yes, but you can't observe cognitive processes because that's like thoughts and feelings. I didn't think of that at the time so I just wrote about naturalistic observation!

Ah..
So what would you use? Clinical Interviews?

Anyone completed their experiment? Our lecturer isn't very helpful in giving us any guidance...

Yeah, or questionnaires.

Did your lecturer not give you a sheet telling you how to lay out the report cause I found that quite helpful.

In a word, no.

In a story, my class are guinea pigs. This is our lecturers first year of teaching, and to be blunt, she has no idea what she is doing. She clearly knows this subject, but not how to teach.
