I have been offered Thermal Power in March 2014. I have chosen the Gas Turbine option. What about you?

They have not sent any term dates, just the course start and end dates. I doubt any such info will be sent before the start of the course.

I am doing Aerospace Prop. Option, I'm sure we'll have some class cross overs! What are you doing accommodation wise? I have heard March starts not guaranteed halls.

That's great. Looking forward to seeing you there. Have you finalized your accommodation? I still haven't applied for one. Will be applying for one this week.

I still haven't applied for accommodation. I will be applying for one this week. I am not sure if I would get one though. I read in other forums that most of them were not given accommodations of their choice even for September starts and some were put on waiting lists.
What about you?

Are you aware of any group here or on Facebook for Cranfield MSc Thermal Power 2013/14? It would be nice to know some folks before you actually reach there.

I have been offered Thermal Power for March 14. About accommodation, I think the chances for on campus now is a bit less. I am saying this based on what I read on some forums in Facebook. Most of them were mentioning that the either got options they didnt opt for or were put on waiting lists.

But you never know, maybe they do have accommodation based on your choice . Btw have you applied for on campus accommodation?

I'll be applying this week for on campus accommodation, and if I don't get that I'll most likely look at Milton keynes.

I'm not sure of any other forums or facebook pages other than this regarding Cranfield unfortunately.

What is your background regarding the course? Are you from UK or over seas?

I was gonna apply last week but for some reason the accommodation portal stopped working for me. Think I'll try applying this week again.

Hello Thermal power students,

I have found this manual about Msc. Thermal Power (all options). I'm planning to arrive one month before (My starting date is October, 7), but on-campus accomodation will be ready just one day before, any advise about cheap accomodation for couples? Milton keynes/Bedford/Cranfield....

I'm not doing Aerodynamics but perhaps I could pass on advice from my advisor of studies regarding MScs.

MScs in Aerospace/Aeronautical eng are generally honours level courses aimed at students changing profession. They are not a means of extending knowledge really, more broadening it at best, so if you are an Aerospace/Aeronautics student, there is little benefit doing one.

MScs offered at cranfield are specialist. They are more suited to those who already have a background in aero, or for those that know exactly what they want to do. Aero is a broad subject range.

The cranfield msc will prepare you for industry, and you will cover most aspects of the subject (in this case aerodynamics). I expect at Swansea you would cover shockwave theory, early elements of compressibility and transonic flow. At cranfield you will cover almost everything required in aerodynamics. As such if you were wanting to do purely aerodynamics it would be foolish to go and do an Aerospace MSc when an Aerodynamics MSc is available. Cranfield allow students to actually go up in their own aircraft and witness, for example modes of motion, stall etc.

Finally, Cranfield is extremely highly regarded by industry due to it's working along side industry constantly. You are industry ready at the end of the degree. It's reputation in Aero is such that having it on your CV is a big deal. I am not sure that is the case with swansea.

Hi! Just got accepted fpr Msc Finance and Management.
But I wanted to know whether a Msc Finance from Cranfield is a better option or Queen Mary (UoL) Msc Finance and Investment?

I dont have like a definite reason why I chose this option but I knew I didnt want to do a masters in Aerospace engineering as a whole subject and this might sound a bit stupid but to be honest I dont see that much difference between aero prop and gas turbine tech options and also with 6/7 optional modules we can choose whatever modules interests us.

btw have you guys applied for accommodations? I wanted to apply for the en suite ones but they are quite expensive. I think the cheapest one is 116.50.
hi friends... do you think that studying MSc astronautics and space enginnering is a good option at cranfield university.. what all are the job opputunities???..

Cranfield would be a better option for a masters degree, however, in terms of University life and workload, Queen Mary comes on top.
