So far I'm actually quite enjoying it! I like to get stuck into work and see something through until the end. Taking Biology, Chem, Physics and Psychology and will probably drop Physics at A2. Of all of them I'm probably most enjoying Psychology...I like chem but we haven't actually learnt anything new yet, it's all recap from GCSE module 3. Biology is interesting but there's a LOT of information...concentrating on learning that inside out as I go along to make revision easier come exam time...and Physics is pretty difficult but it makes SO much sense when a decent teacher explains stuff to you haha.

How are you finding it?

I'm doing pretty much the same as you - Human Bio, Chem, Maths and Psychology! Yeah I'm enjoying getting stuck in too. I just love how close we are to medicine, you know? I'm also finding all of my subjects really interesting and how they all inter-link...

Have you thought about possible unis yet? xx

It's good to meet another person who actually quite enjoys doing the work haha! Everyone else thinks I'm crazy when I just stick my earphones in and write 6 pages of notes in a free

I know what you mean, I just get so scared that I won't get in anywhere because my PS isn't good enough or something like that. My worst case scenario would be getting the grades but failing on the PS/Interview.

Anyway, on a happier note yes I have! I'm pretty certain on Keele and BSMS as I quite like the idea of either a PBL or integrated course. For my other two I'm toying between Exeter, Leicester, Newcastle and Bristol but those choices will depend on my UKCAT (another thing to worry about haha). How about you??

Ah cool - congratulations on that remark as well!!

I'm certain I want to apply to Keele and BSMS...visiting Keele next month for an open day so super excited for that! I also like the look of Leicester, Bristol, Exeter and Newcastle but my other 2 choices will depend on my UKCAT. If it's bad then I definitely won't be applying to Newcastle, and Bristol will definitely be one! It unsettles me having to wait on certain things before you can make a decision haha

Yeah i feel like this!!
It will depend a lot on the UKCAT
though.... i think i am more focused on getting into medicine than going to a certain uni....i wouldnt care if it was a uni i didnt prefer as long i was doing medicine tbh

What subjects are you doing - have you done any WEX?

Yeah I do that all the time!! I know it is a scary thought we only get 4 choices for medicine and have to choose wisely...

Wow yeah they sound awesome, you've certainly done your research I see! I like the idea of PBL but not as the full course, do you get what I mean?

Right now I really interesting in Oxford and King's College London! Although if any of my choices accept me i will go, i'm not fussy really, they are just my particular favourites

Oh gosh yes the UKCAT and BMAT are very scary, do you know when roughly we take those? I really need to sort out my timescale for this really it seems so far away but it really isn't haha

I fully understand what you mean - I'm not too fussed on where it is, I just don't really want to live in London. Would much prefer a more campus based university!

I'm doing Biology, Chem, Physics and Psychology. As far as work experience, I volunteer at a care home once a week, and also at my local library once a week. I have a week in a GP surgery organised, and a few days in A&E. I also applied to a work experience placement at Epsom hospital and still waiting to hear back from them, so fingers crossed!! As far as other stuff I just got the head of year role at my sixth form, and I signed up to peer mentoring.

Feel like I lack in ECs...all I do sports wise is casual badminton, and I don't have many hobbies apart from reading?

How about you? Subjects/WE etc?
Hello everybody, I want to do medicine toooooooooooooooooooo

In answer to the worries on how much work experience you have done it doesn't matter how much you have done (within reason of course eg. shadowing, care home etc) as long as you can say what you have learnt from it. Think about it you don't have that much room to write so doing loads of things wont really benefit you. Try and keep a placement ie volunteering for a long period of time to show commitment...

Epsom hospital in Surrey run a work experience scheme - you could check it out if it's nearby for you!

I'm actually really enjoying AS levels at the moment - I like to get stuck into my work and get organised with it all. I tend to use my study sessions to write up notes and them do other assignments at home, but I'm a bit concerned as my friends are flapping like "I've got no time to do all my work" when I'm only doing like 2-3 hours a night, less if I've had a full free day at sixth form to get everything done. How are you finding them?

Just looked at nottingham ad UEA for mediciane and they look good,... i really like the sound of both
but one has an online test... grr

Don't worry 2-3 hours a night is more than enough, I did a lot less (except around exam times, when I worked pretty much non-stop!) and I came out with 4A's :colondollar:

I'd do it with the local council if I was you.

My local council "Open Award" charged me £12.00for registering with them so i could get onto the e D of E. I had to pay for campsites and canoe hire which came to £100 and i had to pay for my food for the expeditions. the other activities for skills physical and volunteering i sorted out myself. the council even offered us a free one weeks camp which counted as my residential!

Absolutely no way i would pay £600 to anyone when you can do it your self for less than a couple of hundred. the only down side is that you may not end up doing Gold with your mates - you end up doing it all with people who are as skint as you!

take my advice - do it with your local council!

Yh, I'm gonna try to do that  Thanks! I'll ask my friend to do it with the council too. Hopefully we'll be together
It worries me that I'm dubious about being in the right place... I'm in Year 12 currently? :'L ANYWAY, hello there c: I somehow managed to achieve 10 A*s (two were maths gcse's, but it still counts right?), 1 A (blasted Welsh), and Distinction in Additional Maths. Still recoiling from the shock, pretty much, I'm in a sixth form college doing Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Maths. Although I love my subjects to death, having had the worlds worst Physics teacher for GCSE, I'm not finding it as enjoyable as I probably should :c

Today my mother scared me to death by uttering the words "shouldn't you be looking at university open days?" And needless to say I panicked. I am literally the world's /worst/ at being decisive. Obviously there's Oxbridge, and, frankly, if I could have my way, I'd go to Kings in Cambridge just because of Alan Turing.... But realistically, I need to research more and become well versed in this university malarkey. Is there anywhere I can start? It's all so very daunting ><

Oh A levels... I'm surprised I had time to type this reply :')
