University of Aberdeen

Needing advise regarding false start (Scotland)

Hello,
I may have posted this in the wrong location but im new here and this seemed closest in relevance to my query.
One of my flatmates for next year did not achieve enough credits to progress into second year.
I was wondering whether or not he would have the right to a false start or do the University of Aberdeen simply have the right to remove him from the university?

I feel it is also relevant to add that he was in the belief that he had enough credits but was recently sent an email from a certain department claiming there was an error and he actually failed one of his modules that he was told he had actually passed 3 months ago.

I am the one posting this as me him and two other people have a lease on a house for our second year of studies and I personally dont want to have the hassle of having someone being removed from university who is paying part of our household rent.
