The left-wing, sad, immature, naive and un-British

Original post by billydisco

You are aware Orwell was a very left wing person?

Also you are winning, there has been little of a left wing presence in labour for ages now. Stop moaning. You are however loosing the war on stuff like gay rights etc, as that is often wrongly accosted as being a left vs right thing. You will only however eradicate people from holding views you don't like by erecting a totalitarian state like that of Mr Orwell warned against.

There is nothing more childish than divisive partisan hackery. How is it physically possible for a large percentage of the country to be 'unbritish' anyway?

For a while I have claimed the left-wing is un-British. You only have to look at establishments like Sinn Fein, SNP, SDLP, Labour and the Guardian.

I have also commented how frequently lefties on TSR get extremely nasty when you show their naive ideas a pinch of reality.

So it really doesn't surprise me to see these immature ***** hurting police offices and vandalising WW2 memorials. After all, they aren't British, they are left-wing.

I'm hoping with the Tories in Government, Scotland getting independence OR EVEL preventing them from affecting England, we can soon get rid of left-wing politics.

ps why couldn't the police just shoot them with rubber bullets??

Britishness and left wing are not mutually exclusive. One is an Identity and the other is a political position/ideals. This makes your thread utterly useless like the majority of your threads, that use daily mail as a source :rolleyes:. But you never learn.

Then his quote is even more reliable.

I didn't use the Daily Mail as a source..... it had pictures from the event, or are you denying it took place because the Daily Mail mentioned it?
What makes a person British?
I'm very left wing and would consider myself British! The fact remains both the extremes (left and right) will react dramatically if they feel badly treated- just look at the poorly named 'Britain First'
The way you're speaking is rude, I respect you have your own opinions but if yoU got rid of left wing politics this would be called a dictatorship.
And shooting people with rubber bullets? That is just barbaric.
You may not agree with our beliefs but please- just respect them as we try and respect yours.

No. I'm saying the dailymail is the go to place for you pretty much everytime you make a thread.......

It's because it was from the daily mail- the biggest load of fascist rubbish ever, beaten only by the sun.
This is a completely and utterly ridiculous use of a thread. Firstly you use the daily mail as a 'reliable source of information', so I wouldn't exactly trust what you say anyway. Right wing news feeding in hateful comments against any form of democratic society or equality.

Secondly, how can lefties be un-British? That simply does not make any sense. I respect your view, but it couldn't be more wrong. As people have already stated, the views of politics and national identity are completely different things on the spectrum. You may want to reconsider your ideologies..

Is it? Go and look at my last few threads.....

The telegraph website has 20/articles per month and I cannot be bothered opening a different browser to circumnavigate.

The express website is horrible

The BBC has left-wing bias and purposely doesn't report certain news stories not fitting their agenda.

FT is subscription-only

I'm not a fan of the DM, I just knew they would have photos from this event.
Time to rack out the Orwell quotes why not.

"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written directly or indirectly against totalitarianism and for Democratic Socialism as I understand it." See, he was a socialist. This is written on the back of most of his books.

"Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also"…. It was Marx who brought it to life. And ever since he did so the motives of politicians, priests, judges, moralists and millionaires have been under the deepest suspicion–which, of course, is why they hate him so much.11"

He respected Marx.

"The tragic thing is that these opinions percolate to the workers themselves. When I first saw unemployed men at close quarters, what horrified me was that many were ashamed of unemployment. I was very ignorant, but not so ignorant as to imagine that when the loss of foreign markets pushed two million men out of work, those two million are not any more at fault than people ruined in an earthquake.15"

He didn't have the same view of unemployed people as you do that's for sure.

"Practically every building of any size had been seized by the workers and draped with red flags or the red and black flag of the anarchists; every wall was scrawled with the hammer and sickle and with the initials of the revolutionary parties.... Every shop and café had an inscription saying it had been collectivized. Waiters treated you as an equal. Servile speech had disappeared.... In outward appearances it was a town in which the wealthy classes had practically ceased to exist.
All this was queer and moving. There was much I did not understand, in some ways I did not even like it, but I recognized it immediately as a state of affairs worth fighting for."

He was very praisful of the outright radical socialism in the Spanish civil war enacted by the likes of the POUM and CNT unions.

"Socialism means a classless society, or it means nothing at all. And it was here that those few months in the militia were valuable to me. For the Spanish militias, while they lasted, were a sort of microcosm of a classless society. In that community where no one was on the make, where there was a shortage of everything but no privilege and no bootlicking, one got, perhaps, a crude forecast of what the opening stages of socialism might be like. And, after all, instead of disillusioning me it deeply attracted me. The effect was to make my desire to see socialism established much more actual than it had been before."

Again with the praise of radical socialism.

He wasn't one of you Billy...

"a socialist party" had to be formed in Britain or "fascism is coming." Another pro socialism quote.

All in all he was a remarkable man and has deeply effected my political views

Please don't muddy his memorey by quoting him :frown:

Could you please tell me which part of my post is based on the Daily Mail article?

And our country is scarily starting to show signs of the totalitarian state described by Orwell in 1984. Especially in terms of controlling our thoughts (through the right wind media rhetoric), increase in surveillance, perpetuating endless wars in the name of peace etc
Saw Daily Mail and just

Anyway, stop generalising an entire political group based on the idiotic actions of some.

The BBC has left wing bias but the telegraph has right wing bias. Bias which is more evident than the BBC's which is accused of unfounded bias by conspiracy theorists...............

Yeah, the English right wing represent our understated, reserved, polite national characteristics much better:

Thank god if we get rid of the left wing - our country will be saved

Ah....... it was the English flag- it insulted you? I've heard lefties don't like seeing the England flag flown.....

This seems very relevant :moon:
