NEED HELP QUESTION:Osmosis red blood cell SCIENCE OCR GATEWAY

So question is:
Student looks at the red blood cells in isotonic, hypotonic (dilute) and hypertonic (concentrated) solutions under a microscope.
Explain why the student first looks at the red blood cells in an isotonic solution.

Please help I have no idea, any help is greatly appreciated im so stuck
It's so he can have a control test, something with which to compare the other tests do. An Isotonic environment is the normal environment. If he didn't do it first, he wouldn't know whether the hypertonic and hypotonic environments had made the cell bigger or smaller than normal because he wouldn't know what it would have looked like in a normal environment.
Ya fookin legend mate I thought so just needed confirmation love ya pal respect xxxxx
