I keep reading that there is a shortage of computer science graduates and was just wondering if this really is the case? What type of careers are comp sci grads in demand for? Why are they in demand etc.

Thanks

There's a shortage of _good_ comp sci grads.

Software development is by far biggest career path for CS students, although quite a few go into software/computer related non-programming jobs (consultancy, management, sales, etc.).

:dito: because we are not mere programmers...

What does a "good" graduate consist of? Obviously a good degree and I would normally say from a top university but there seems to be a lot of successful graduates from 'lower' universities. Which areas suffer from the shortage? Is networking a popular career path.

Sorry if these are basic questions, I am looking for info for someone else (I have applied for Law:p:) and really dont know where to look, all I can really find on the internet is "There's a shortage of computer grads, the uk industry is doomed" which doesn't really help!
