The Student Room Group

How hard is it.

I’m applying to comp sci for unis in Cardiff , Southampton,Loughborough, Surrey and Leeds / or maybe rhul or Kingston.
Unfortunately my college didn’t provide comp sci at A levels and on open days the student said even if you do not have prior knowledge you can do the course.I understand it’s gonna be very hard unless I put my effort and determination, I just wanted how is it overall for those student who did comp sci without prior knowledge
I think it personally depends on the university you apply to, you could also research the course modules they deliver.

There'll probably be a good bonus if you study a Comp Sci course beforehand, but many universities from what I've researched, tend to teach the basics as well.

Universities that are generally more competitive and seen as 'better', like Russel Group, will probably have a difficult course. Universities which have more relaxed entry requirements (this can be an excellent queue to how difficult the course would be), would be easier. ^^
Hi @Kishorrrrc,

I saw that you mentioned Loughborough in your comment, so I wanted to reply and try to help.

I've provided the link to our Computer Science BSc course here: https://www.lboro.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/courses/computer-science-bsc/

On this page, you can find information about entry requirements and more details about the modules students study on this course.

We also have other courses that include Computer Science, so I wanted to give you the link to our full range of courses here: https://www.lboro.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/courses/

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email the team who manage the Computer Science BSc course at [email protected].

I hope this helps, but if you have any further questions, you can let me know too!
