Private sixth form

Are private schools better than state schools?
Statistically, yes. However, if you're looking for all A*s, you can do that in pretty much any sixth form provided you put the effort in.

No necessarily - my state school far out-performs the local Private schools.

Are you looking for advice on applying to a private sixth form Vs a state one?
Whether private schools are better than state schools depends on the school in my opinion.

That’s a very broad question.

The average private school gets higher grades than the average state school but many of those private schools getting high grades are extremely academically selective. So those same pupils may have done just as well academically at most state schools.

Like most state schools there are good and not so good teachers in the private sector and good and not so good schools.

I think private schools often excel over state schools in the non academic life skills / character building etc.

My children have gone to a very famous public school and although I’m biased I do think how they act / carry themselves / aspire / consider / speak is impressive regardless of their academic achievements which may well have been the same at any reasonable state school.
