How to find the complex numbers w in w^2-1=20(1-i)? please show the working out

It helps to see the original question and what youve tried, but one way is to take the 1 over and assume w=(a+bi). Then its just a case of spotting the values of a and b by equating real and imaginary parts.

Or use the info that squaring a complex number squares the magnitude and doubles the arg.
