For 9 markers, do a point, back it with a key thinker and elaborate on the idea they pushed, and then evaluate with a thinker who further developed or a thinker who opposed that idea.

I’ve attached a socialism 9 marker that got 9/9 - it’s too long, so don’t be freaked out by that! I hope it helps with the structure though? Make a point, explain it with a thinker, then evaluate with another.

For my 9 markers I do a point and thinker, then their work and develop the idea with key theories they may have, examples of it in practise if relevant, then for analysis do what this belief lead them to believe, eg Hobbes pessimistic view on human nature led to him advocating for a leviathan state, or why they held this belief eg Webb believed in collectivism and clause IV because she believed human nature was naturally fraternal and cooperative
Just in case this helps anyone with 9 markers - this is a 3/3 paragraph, breaking it down into which bit is actually getting the marks. Make your point, back it with an example of a thinker, evaluate how it prompted the ideas of another thinker or clashed with another thinker for mark 3. Don't worry, they don’t need to be this long or detailed - this was overkill to ensure the technique was clear.
Is there a chance conservatism will be a 25 marker at all? Or it definitively can’t be repeated?

9 markers on paper 3 are the easiest 9/9 you can achieve in my opinion if you know liberalism/socialism/conservatism inside out

25 marker context is not that hard either, just need to find 3 really solid points that draw out tensions/contradictions between strands of the given ideology

what's the most common 4th ideology that people take? is it anarchism or nationalism?

What if it’s a question on how conservative thinkers have viewed the individual or something like that
what about that? that's not bad

bit difficult prefer questions which ask on like human nature, state, society, economy, etc. but ig it’s a personal preference
have they ever repeated an extract question? e.g conservatism came up last year, are they allowed to repeat it in this years extract too?
conservatism came up for the last 2 years (2021 + 2022) - aqa can do whatever they want they're are an independent company

...but are they going to repeat conservatism for a third time? no. it'll be liberalism or socialism

oh okok makes sense  my teacher said they cant repeat the same ideology and it hasnt ever been repeated twice in a row - however he might be wrong was just double checking if it was a possibility
btw 2021 was on liberalism!

9 markers:
Socialism - human nature
Liberalism- ways liberal thinkers define freedom
Conservatism- ways conservative thinkers view tradition

Extract:
Conservatism - on role of the state

Idk what other ideology you do for the 25 marker, let me know if you want it!

hey do you know what came up for nationalism?

‘Nationalism is based on a clear view of a country’s culture and traditions’

sorry I meant to say 2020 and 2022, but still the argument holds

it'll likely be socialism, but don't ignore conservatism or liberalism, it could really be anything, they could easily repeat conservatism if they wanted to

Yeah thanks for the advice
does anyone take the sample specimen paper into consideration? i don't get the relevance of it but I've been told to treat it as a past paper.

Two of the nine-markers from 2022 (socialism and conservatism) were taken directly from the specimen paper so I wouldn't overlook it...

yeah, good point.
what resources are everyone using to revise?
I'm just going thru the spec now and making notes for each thinker to memorise

By (some) popular request, here is a bank of 9 markers I have attempted to piece together. Please feel free to criticise, amend or add your own notes to these, especially for Conservatism and Liberalism.

My top prediction for this paper would be liberalism (as recognised by many others). The dominant debate around liberalism is how far it supports the concept of individual freedom, and I would anticipate an extract question around this theme. Note that liberalism and anarchism are significantly different in terms of their approach to the rule of law and the state. Being able to illustrate the differences between classical and modern liberalism, with reference to your key thinkers is particularly important and should sort us guys out greatly. Synoptic marks are very accessible too in terms of UK knowledge and perhaps especially US politics: it should literally be second nature for us guys to include these governments when talking about Conservatism, Liberalism and to some extent socialist policies.

Thank you for these - 9 markers for the non-core ideology can’t come up can they? Also, just to clarify - I’m sure you know but you definitely don’t need synoptic links in a 9 marker. Keep them to the 25s!

Out of interest, why are you anticipating liberalism? Socialism hasn’t been assessed for longer.
