Just out of curiosity, what was the popular opinion regarding the papers in your schools/classes? Did most people agree that they were easy or difficult?

I'm really hoping for lenient grade boundaries as I pray for them to be set low. However, it seems like many of my classmates excelled in the paper, and I'm certain there are majority of others across the UK who did exceptionally well too. :s-smilie:

I haven't encountered anyone who struggled with the paper as much as I did, which is now causing me concern and stress. I just hope that I won't be negatively impacted by strict grade boundaries especially since it is rumoured to follow the strict 2019 grade boundaries... :frown::frown:

I would say there isn't much point focusing on that right now, best try and smash paper 3 by putting all your thought into that. Focusing on other people's opinions on how well they THINK they did is irrelevant, no one truly knows till results day comes around. Doing that will cause increased anxiety and unneeded nerves. After all my papers I kept second-guessing my performance, even though mostly during them I felt fine, letting that go caused huge relief for me.

This is my personal opinion so I could be wrong, but after reading up on how they're gonna do grades this year I'm expecting at the absolute worst 2019 grade boundaries, but, I'm suspecting them to be slightly lower across the board this year - I could be wrong tho.

i second this aswell.
I am struggling with anticipating 9 markers other than based on human nature, the state, society and the economy
i need help on the nationalism question. ym teacher said its guaranteed nationalism would be an essay because it would not come up as an extract or 9 markers and after looking at previous past papers its true. how would i know what to talk about if i only revise what each key thinkers thought about human nature society state and economy. they always ask non core questions and i dont know how to link them or formulate an answer around non core questions this is the same for the other ideologies when they ask about non core questions. also do they always ask non core questions for the extract i find that so difficult as well to answer. i really dont know how to. any help???

By “type of thinker”, it means which branch of conservatism they belong to, rather than the provenance of their ideas.

For example, Hobbes and Burke are both traditionalist conservatives; Oakeshott is a one nation conservative; Rand and Nozick are New Right thinkers.

hey @IsMiseGeorge , could you please tell me how you would label the liberal thinkers too? :h:

I was also struggling with this whole thing too of not following the non-core questions. it's essential to have a solid understanding of these core concepts first as a foundation. They provide a framework for analyzing and interpreting the broader themes and ideas within an ideology. if you have good knowledge of the core concepts then you are set.

For extract questions, carefully read the provided text and analyze it in relation to the ideology. Look for key ideas and themes that relate to the core concepts and kind of apply it? For example if they asked an extract question on social class (they have already done this before) i would then relate this to my knowledge of how socialist thinkers view society as they are similar related concepts.

This is for the ideology 25 marker, I'm not sure about the 4th question i am also yet to find out how i will answer a random question not related to a core theme :frown:

ohh ok thanks for the help. so you could essentially use the same points for core questions for non core questions in relation to what concept it links to
? im still finding this really difficult if you have any resources at hand to share with me that would be great. ideologies is the most difficult paper out of my whole a levels i feel as though i just cannot wrap my head around it. for non core questions is there specific terms they would ask you about that i could learn i only know of these : tradition, paternalism, class, liberty, freedom, individual freedom, capatislism. how did you start off learning the key concepts first??? im just going through all key thinkers and writing notes on how they viewed the core terms. is there anything more i should do or am i doing it all wrong??

Im sorry but i don't think im the right person to ask for help :s-smilie: I'm also struggling with this paper too and might be giving wrong advice.
I have just wrote answers for all core theme questions and made a small recap for other potential terms they could ask for which is nearly identical to your list you have stated. Then i plan to memorise everything after my exams for other subjects as politics is my last exam so im prioritising it less.
Revise the same as you have been revising for paper 1 and 2, stick with your own strategies that you are comfortable with.

can anyone help me with the structure of the non core ideology question. 2020 question on feminism was “feminism should concern itself with the public rather than the personal realm.” how would i structure this question and how would i evaluate my points?

Hi does anyone know if it's essential to discuss all 5/6 key thinkers in the 25 mark source question? Is it possible to still get high marks only talking about 2/3 in detail? Thanks

you can't get high marks without mentioning all of the key thinkers
Does anyone know what minority or state nationalism is?

What's the probability they can repeat the same?

I’m not too sure like for now they haven’t, unless you include the specimen paper since the 2022 paper had 2 of the nine mark questions which were on the specimen paper

you can dm for help.

My account is new it does not allow me and I also do not have any social media

Depends on the question and what thinkers are relevant - no point forcing thinkers in

However, aim for 2 per paragraph if you can
