Clearing FAQ's - Here to help you (:

Hey everyone!

Clearing is now open, so we have created a hub for all your questions and concerns so we can do our best to help you through the process. The thought of Clearing can seem like alot but we are here to help give you guidance on how to get through it without the hassle and panic.

Key Dates:

This year A-level results day is on 17th August.
Clearing runs from 5 July to 19 October.

Remember, you can't enter Clearing until you have your grades, but you must know how to prepare for the process.

What is Clearing?

Clearing is the process of matching applicants without a university place to one of the university places still available once they have received their results.

Who is it for?

Clearing applies to applicants who:

-Have not met the conditions of their offers

-Have not received any offers

-Have rejected all their offers

-Have applied after the 30 June

What can I start doing now?

1)Do your research around universities and courses you are interested in.
2) Some things you may want to consider are the course content, teaching techniques, facilities, and location
3)Make a shortlist of options so you're ready to contact universities asap.
4) When you get your exam results, start contacting universities on your shortlist.
(Treat this as an interview, be professional & engaged)

Do u know if optometry does clearing?

Also do u do it via a website or phone call, etc?

Thank you
Hi @Studentwithaname

Most universities are open for Clearing now if they haven't filled all the spaces on their courses. The best way to check if a University is open for Clearing within the Optometry field is to either check on UCAS using their search tool here: https://digital.ucas.com/search or you can check university websites that you are interested in.

Ravensbourne University London specialises in creative, digital and management courses. However, with universities that do Optometry, you can sure give them a call or check their website for any information you may need.

Do you have a list of universities you are already looking at?
Thank you that was very helpful. I was just asking in case I don’t get the grades for my firm or insurance.
Also, say if I got an offer from a uni but declined it by not putting it down as firm or insurance can I go for the same course at that uni through clearing? If grades were good or they were lenient and stuff
Probably a stupid question

That's absolutely fine- ask as many questions as you'd like! To answer your question, I think it's likely down to the university. Unfortunately, I cannot say for a fact you would be able to study the same course at a different university through Clearing as it might already be full. However, the best solution would be to have a look over that specific university you'd like to consider (whether you have your grades yet or not). It's best to prepare so you can have some peace of mind and know what your options are. You can have a look at their website, see what information they have on courses available through Clearing and whether the specific one you'd want to study is available. You can likely give them a call on their Clearing Hotline to find this out too. Do you mind me asking what universities you are currently looking to go to? And have you had a look at the Clearing info on their website already?
Hey everyone,

Just checking in and wanted to share some extra resources and a chance for you to hear from Zoya and some of our students who have been through clearing.

I've dropped a link to our LinkTree on instagram @ravensbourneuk where you can access more information and fun stories about what's happening at Ravenbsourne.

https://linktr.ee/RavensbourneUniversity?utm_source=linktree_profile_share&ltsid=df80e300-8bc9-4260-a99b-ea2cb38e0458

"Clearing was actually really easy. I put it off for a bit too long as I was so nervous it was going to be hard. It was so straight-forward and I was supported the entire time".- says Maria on our BA Fashion course.

If you also haven't had a chance to sign up to our Clearing drop-In - you still have time. There's one coming up on the 2nd of June, the link is above.

Good luck- still here if you need any help (:
