Invesetment banking with physics at UNI ???

Hey,

I'm going to take my Alevels exam next year and my predicted grade currently are Physics A*, Chemistry A*, Maths A*, Further Maths A (gonna be higher probs A*). My choices for uni are Cambridge (Natrual science), Imperial (physics), UCL(physics), st andrews (physics), edinburgh (physics). Is there any way to make myself more competitive for a job in investment banking once i complete my under grad ? any courses recommendation ? (eg fsa)

You need to apply for spring weeks - basically you start applying shortly after you start university.

Plenty do! I suspect it’s one of the more common career paths for imperial physics grads.

Imperial > UCL any day, especially for physics.

Amazing predicted grades - you should be proud of yourself!

You're all set for a career in Investment Banking with a degree in physics given it's a highly quantitative degree.
It might also open more doors for you that are not options for Econ/ Business majors, e.g. Quantitative Trading at firms like Jane Street.

To make your application competitive;
1. Try & land a leadership/ subcommittee role at your university's finance society ASAP
2. Increase your commercial awareness - keep up w/ the FT, listen to podcasts, read the news
3. Apply for spring weeks as early as possible - the earlier you apply the better (if they're rolling) - applications open as early as Sept!
