Urgent Help Needed - Accommodation Issues with UniteStudent

Hello everyone,

I am reaching out to this forum in dire need of advice and support regarding a concerning situation I am facing with UniteStudent accommodation services. My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I am at my wit's end trying to find a resolution. Here's a brief rundown of what I've been dealing with:

Misallocation of Room: Upon checking in, I discovered that the room I was assigned had already been occupied by another tenant. While the management changed my room, they held me responsible for a payment of £150 due to the contractual duration, which was between the 8th and 26th of September, despite it being a result of their own error.
Appalling Living Conditions: The new room I was given is in a deplorable state, with issues such as water leaks, stained floors, sticky walls, broken wardrobe and doors, as well as mold on the ceiling. These conditions are severely impacting my health, exacerbating my asthma and eczema due to the increased humidity and mite infestation.
Despite numerous attempts to seek a resolution, including emails and in-person visits to their office, the situation remains unchanged. They have suggested finding a replacement, but given the condition of the room, it seems like an impossible task.

I am feeling helpless and frustrated, unsure of how to proceed. Any advice or guidance on how to handle this situation with UniteStudent would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and support.

Get your Student Union accommodation officer involved ASAP.

You mean from my university ?
Your student union is there to help students sort out all sorts of problems. One of the union officers (either paid or volunteer) will specialise in accommodation issues and will be able to liaise with UniteStudent for you. They can also raise the issue with the University accommodation team if they think that will help.
