The Student Room Group

You will struggle to get anywhere like a Russell Group with these grades. Your best option would to take a gap year or apply in clearing with your actual grades. English Lit isnt massively competitive outside a few universities and typically there are RG universities in clearing. Maybe apply to lower graded universities now then if your grades are higher decline the offers and apply elsewhere.

Just a word of warning here over your grades. Loads come on here saying they will get better grades but very few do. 75% of students do not reach their predictions and of the small amount that do it is usually 1 or 2 grades higher. Schools tend to over predict as it is their interests to get students into better universities. Somebody going from BCC to say AAA is highly unlikely. Past GCSE grades mean nothing about an individuals A level performance and many with excellent GCSEs dont produce the same at A level

Don't apply to Uni this year.

Instead, work your socks off to get the best results you can - really work, don't just pretend - and then apply next year with known grades. If you want to go to a top Uni badly enough, this is do-able - it just depends on whether or not you want to put in the extra effort needed.
