how to write advanced higher english dissertation??

helpp pls

I didn't think it would be this hard and I'm panicked. I don't get the thing about how if your dissertation is on characterisation then you can't talk about characterisation and have to talk about setting etc? Does it have to say characterisation in your question or just for example if it's comparing your characters childhoods, like that would count as characterisation right? And how many paragraphs d I need? the sqa examples are so messy
