Reverse Chain Rule Question

Here is the question with its solution. I am stuck on how in the mark scheme they managed to go from the second last line to k=2. How did they simplify the expression? Some help would be greatly appreciated!

Youre told what the expression is in the question so even just looking at k/3, then k must be 2. You may be overthinking it.
