Evaporation and Mixing question
I have no idea what to do on this question! Can anyone help?
100 kg of 5 % solution of lactose is concentrated in an evaporator to form a solution containing 20 % solids. This solution is then spray dried and mixed with aspirin in powder form to result in a particulate mixture containing 15% aspirin.
i) What is the mass of concentrate resulting from evaporation?
ii) Stating clearly the assumptions made, find the mass of water eliminated in the spray dryer and the mass of aspirin mixed.
iii) Describe any one type of mixer which can be used for mixing lactose powder with aspirin.
