No, it's not good enough to go to Oxford (Cambridge is far behind in influence). You also have to be part of the right circles while you're there. Judging by all the people I know who went (and some of them to good colleges), if you're a normal person and you go to Oxbridge you don't end up any better off than a normal person who went to a high Russell Group or especially a London university.
