Great call on the internships.

Glad to see someone is using their head on the digital economies bill. This, and university tuition fees (I live in sunny Scotland) will determine who I will vote for

TSR: You could have picked a few more interesting questions! There were plenty of extremely interesting questions on that thread which would have been far more important than where would you like to go on holiday or what societies were you in?

This is a great idea. It has just shown me that the Lib dems are the right party for me as i wasa only 90% sure before. I needed clear answers like this to help.
Reply 43
I will only consider voting Lib Dem if they clearly state on which points they would/would not be willing to compromise on in the event of a hung Parliament. Otherwise to give them that power would be ridiculously irresponsible.
Reply 44
Helped clarify for me that Lib Dem is the way forward. Most of their policy's are good and hopefully they'll gain enough seats so that they can push some of them through by co-operating with a minority govt.

I really don't want David Cameron to win. Him and george osbourne always come across as so smug

Question 2 - Variations asked by DiamondsAreForever, Ronar, Aimee, Philosopher-of-sorts, Schmokie Dragon:

With many students living independently of their parents, why should student finance depend on their income? Why not be fair, and give everyone an equal platform in which to start their education, giving everyone the same amount of money? Then the rest that they need they can supplement from external sources i.e. a job/overdraft/family.

Nick Clegg's answer:

"We absolutely do need an equal platform, which is precisely why my party is determined to scrap unfair university tuition fees for all students taking their first degrees. Right now students are expected to take on up to £10,000 in debt just from fees when it’s already tough enough to get a job and get on the housing ladder. So, even in these very difficult economic times, Liberal Democrats have a plan to phase out fees. I’m very proud to be the leader of the only party that believes university education should be based on ability - not on ability to pay"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This isn't really answering the question. He says they're scrapping tuition fees; that is one part of university cost that isn't means tested and shouldn't affect anyone's decision to go to university. Everyone gets the loan and is expected to pay it off themselves once earning, not their parents. Current income isn't an issue with that. The issue that really needs adressing is maintenance loans and grants, not tuition fees.

My question would have been, why do you keep prancing around thinking that you are going to be the Prime Minister?

Says the UKIP representative !
Nick Clegg's answer:

"I wasn't into student politics, but I did campaign for things I believed in, like the rights of indigenous peoples through an organization called Survival International. In terms of hobbies I tried out a few things, quite a lot of sport, I did some acting, and I even got into transcendental meditation for a while, which my friends still love to remind me."

Thats strange Mr Clegg, because I read somewhere...

glad that the digital economy bill was addressed, although i do feel it could have been explored a little more thoroughly.

as much as i want to vote lib dems, im still going to vote labour, because would much rather them than the conservatives and also increases the likelihood of a hung parliament, in which i would like to think the lib dems would side with labour to form a coalition, with Vince cable as chancellor.

I beleive Clegg would be a poor leader, that's why I shall not vote lib dems. Had Vince Cable been representing the Lib dems however, they would get my vote

Clegg showed the most charisma of the three on the debate while cameron seemed rigid and fake while brown looked old and stale. Charisma is what i'd like to see most in a leader over anything else so I am confused how you made your conclusion :s-smilie:

I liked his Digital Ecomony response a lot. As well the Interships answer. Not too fussed about the others though.
Gap year? University hobbies? What the **** was that?!

An oppurtunity to ask a party leader questions directly related to us youths and get some relevant answers and we ask him **** about that? What a waste. Who decided those questions? You live in a ******* sandpit or something?

You'd want charisma over anything else?

Vote for ******* Harry Hill then for TV personality of the year, but don't vote politically.

Who the **** submitted the gap year question? Ugh.

Why does Nigel Farage keep prancing around and thinks he has a single MP in Westminster? xD

Prime Ministers have hundreds of people behind them to run through policies etc. What a good Prime Minister needs is the ability to talk to the public and be able to present themselves clearly and come across as trustworthy and on the ball.

What a good Prime Minister needs is to be able to run the country effectively, maintain order in their party and establish and maintain good international relations.

Not to pander to voters. I do agree though that it's better if the P.M. CAN present themselves and their party well, but substance over style... You wouldn't buy a Ford Escort in a Ferrari body would you?

Clegg's ideas on internships will make me want to vote for his party.

Nigel Farage is prancing around because he is an MEP for the European Parliament. UKIP are fighting to have an MP in Westminster and I hope that they get it. However, this is on a large scale with Nick Clegg and he shouldn't be acting like that.

By the way, I am just a TSR UKIP but in RL, I am Conservative.
