I'd go history, it's widely recognised as a very valuable subject, however is much harder, and probably not as enjoyable as politics.

If you're considering doing economics at uni, both will come in handy on your ucas form. But i think history edges it on reputation, and application to other subjects.

Definetly history over politics, speaking as someone who's done both.
