Studying French in France.

I know you can study 'Français langue étrangère' but what is this? Is it a degree or just a diploma? I'd like to study French in France but struggling to find a real course. I want to be an interpreter later on in life so I want (need) a good qualification. Any ideas?

FLE isn't for foreign people wanting to learn French. It's really for French people who want to teach foreigners.

I don't think there's licence per se., but you can do a master's after combining it with something else at undergrad.

(For interpreting, I don't really think it's the ideal qualification though - you're better off doing something else and then a master's in interpreting).

Ah ok, sort of like the French equivalent to TEFL?

What if I were to study English in France? And then maybe do a masters in interpretation afterwards? Would this be a good path to take? Would it be ridiculous for me to do a degree in English?

I guess, I'm not 100% clear on what TEFL entails. I think it's the same idea though.

I wouldn't study English here really. A lot of it really would be a waste of time. In your place I'd probably work on an area of specialisation or on my C language(s) instead...
