Fingers crossed we'll hear for visits soon  I think York sounds lovely and the course is fantastic, I think I prefer it to Bristol's, but we'll see! Are you still considering Warwick at all?

Yeh, I'm hoping for an email in the next couple of days! I'm not sure I'm too fond of the course at Warwick as there is no medieval history but I'm visiting in April so I guess I will see next month. Where else have you got offers from?
I have rejections from Oxford and St.Andrews, offers from Durham and York, and have yet to hear from Warwick.

Right now, my top choice is York. I would choose Durham, but they gave me an offer as an overseas student and York gave me an offer as a home student (my status is debatable). I tried to get Durham to reconsider giving me an offer as a home student, but that basically means having them look at my application again to see if I can get an offer. So I still haven't heard back from them, and even if they change my status to home student, they might not give me an offer in the end...

But York sounds amazing, as does the History course there.

Unfortunately, I can't visit any of the unis I applied to, as I live halfway across the world...

Got an offer yesterday from them (AAA) finally. Took their time! Doubt I'll be firming it though, as I have offers from York and Warwick as well which I need to decide between.

Ahh, who have you firmed/insured then?

 Good to hear you got an offer! (Maybe the admissions team are watching this very thread? :ninja:)

My firm will be Oxford, and I'm 99% sure that my insurance is going to be Exeter, but I'm just putting off making that decision at the moment because I'm still vaguely considering having UEA as my insurance (same AAB offer)...

Thanks, and well done, you must have done very well to get past that interview.
I have an offer from Exeter as well but its A*AA so its very unlikely that it will be my firm ha!

Yeah, Warwick's very modern, I thought of applying there but I'm glad I didn't in the end, would have been very limiting. The medieval history modules at York look amazing. I've got offers from Exeter and Cardiff as well, and a rejection from Oxford  Saw Exeter last Wednesday and didn't like it much, and I'm not considering Cardiff anymore. You?

Yeh the course at York looks so good. I have offers from Bristol, Warwick and Exeter as well and a rejection from Durham . I was supposed to go to see Exeter on Wednesday as well, but something came up and I couldn't make it. I don't really like the look of it too much though so not too disappointed that I didn't get to go. Sorry to hear about Oxford, least you gave it a shot!
Durham won't change my fee status to home student. York is looking more and more likely...

(Good thing it has a good history course.)

Someone from my school last year went to York to study History :yep: they're having a great time there
So I was almost decided on firming St Andrews, and then I started to look at Exeter again and now I just have no idea. I'm going to look at both of them in the Easter holidays but does anyone have any advice on choosing/ opinions?

I was at Exeter for 6 months so if you've got any questions about student life etc then feel free to PM (answers are usually too long to post)

Personally, I'd prefer Exeter, simply because it's a city, and it has a proper shopping centre, historic area, quayside etc. It's also in one of my favourite parts of the country, surrounded by coastline and moors/ national parks, but not too far away from bigger cities like Bristol, Bath. I've heard that St. Andrews is quite small, (but probably more picturesque than Exeter?) and that in terms of nightlife there's not much there - I also don't know what the campus is like, where as I really liked Streatham campus, especially with the Forum building project, which will be completed by October 2012.

Think about what you really want from university, and how far away St.Andrews/ Exeter are from where you live (this must have some impact - they're 100s of miles apart!) - will you be wanting to go home every month? How expensive is travel from your home to each university? I also think it's worth considering little things, like the fact that Scottish degrees are slightly different in structure to English ones...

As silly as it sounds, isn't it likely to be colder/ have quite a different climate in the middle of Scotland (one of the coldest parts of the UK) compared to the South Coast (one of the warmest parts of the UK)?

I'm also presuming that the courses will have very different modules/ methods of assessment too? Do you have anything that you especially want to study, which you can specialise in at either? Do you prefer exams or coursework? Check the syllabus for each.

Bear in mind that I've never even visited St.Andrews  I'm just trying to think of some discriminating factors...I think you will have a MUCH better idea where to firm after visiting both places, always worked for me
I have conditionals to study History & Politics at: Kent(pass Access course with 50% of credits at Merit or above), Sussex (Pass Access course with 42 credits at Merit or above; including 24 at Distinction), UEA(Pass Access course with 45 credits at Distinction) and Christ Church Canterbury(Pass the Access course).

Firmed to do History and Joint Poltics at The University of Liverpool; offer is AAB. Far too excited.
Anyone doing History at St Andrews ))!
Am I the only one really scared of not meeting the 'A' for their offer despite having over 90% average so far?
So scared :frown:

:nope: you're not the only one. I need 3As for my offer, and despite getting 4As at AS, I'm so much more nervous this year because I feel like I NEED them, you know, the thought of Result's Day and not getting into uni...erugh...:frown:
