Re: Depression Society MKVIAye but the main feeling that everyone is posting about is sadness, regardless of if you have a PD, depression, bipolar etc.(Original post by laut_biru)
MSN will likely work better tbh.
I'd not want to see it become so broad it becomes useless, but yes, right now more people here seem to have PDs than a diagnosis of depression.
Main focus has to be what's healthiest. Everyone sitting around validating each other in refusing to accept their diagnosis is not that.
I think why people may be refusing to accept it is because Drs can't agree. -

Re: Depression Society MKVIA lot of people keep posting how doctors are wrong etc.. When in reality very rarely doctors are wrong. If they want to do that in a different thread then cool but I know me and others would appreciate if it was kept outside of the depression thread.(Original post by bullettheory)
Aye but the main feeling that everyone is posting about is sadness, regardless of if you have a PD, depression, bipolar etc.

Re: Depression Society MKVIWe're young. We are the population where differential diagnosis is the most difficult. Yes it really ****ing sucks, but it doesn't make what just happened on this thread healthy, in the slightest.(Original post by bullettheory)

Re: Depression Society MKVIOh yes, I'm sorry I should have considered that...(Original post by bullettheory)
Do you mind if I PM you it, would just rather answer privately tbh.
But what about the overlap? One person can have all of those problems and they can't easily be separated.(Original post by Idle)
Depression Society, Eating Disorder Society, Psychosis Society, Personality Disorder Society..
I think I hit everything? Anyone think that would be a good set up? -

Re: Depression Society MKVIThen they could just try to the best of their abilities to post related bits in the specific threads?(Original post by lifeguardsleeping)

Re: Depression Society MKVIAnother reason why I think a general thread might be a good idea.(Original post by lifeguardsleeping)

Re: Depression Society MKVI
I personally think a good way to split it so people can get the support they need but also so that people can talk to people who understand how they feel, would be if we had a support thread and a chat thread!
Because it is often difficult with wanting to ask questions and get support and feeling others questions are getting over looked .... but also I think people just need to be able to talk to people who understand how they feel about everyday difficult things, because people IRL don't always understand these things! But I don't know just an idea! -
Re: Depression Society MKVI
Sticking my 2 cents in - I kinda like it the way it is now because it's easiest to socialise. I think we're welcoming to all newcomers, and those too anxious to post in here often seem to create their own threads instead, and can then be led here if appropriate/what they want.
I realise that this thread isn't solely for the purpose of socializing, but we do have quite a community built up here and I think it would be a great shame to fragment it. It's true that there are other mediums for chatting to people, like skype etc. but DepSoc is a low maintenance way of touching base, of seeking some reassurance and support, and to come to have a bit of a laugh or chill out.
Plus the Skype smilies are rubbish compared to some of the gems on here. -
Re: Depression Society MKVI
I think the thread is fine as it is. Surely tonight's discussion about PDs links in with the thread as a whole. We discuss a whole range of problems (from depression, to psychosis, to dissocation). But to make separate threads for each illness would be a huge waste of time and space.

Re: Depression Society MKVI
The community can still stay. I'm not suggesting a separate thread for everything, but more of a general thread. I love everyone on here but I'm not sure if things are good how it is or healthy for everyone. This thread is also increasingly giving the mods a lot of work. It might be more appropriate to have a general thread, with great community, than carry on the way we have been here.
