Well, if I fail my exams...

There may be something in this.

Are you blind or something don't you see how porn is damaging the minds of young people its taking over their minds. Think about how bad it would be for the next generation of kids they're gonna growing up in a society were porn is available so easily.

BTW did you even watch the video.

I would rather live in a society where you knew the difference between the words ''Where'' and ''Were''.
Porn makes blow jobs look better than they really are. It is a tragedy.

American girls will have sex with loads of partners then go to Church and deny it, Dutch girls will have proper relationships but talk openly about sex that was what I was saying.

Americans aren't as religious as people think. I think people have something of a misconception of modern Americans.

Plus, most girls around the world would be reluctant to admit sleeping around. It's not guilt, it's because they don't want people calling them sluts. I doubt they feel guilt about the act itself.

1) In what way is it 'damaging to the mind'?

2) I think the word 'addiction' is being used very loosely here. The first boy who was interviewed said it was part of his daily routine - there are plenty of things we do every day that don't constitute addiction. I watch TV every day, am I addicted to it? No.

3) This entire video is biased from the beginning because its underlying premise is that porn is bad and that watching/enjoying porn is a character defect. The reporter listed all the boy's perceived 'good' characteristics then said "it just did not fit at all into who he was in the rest of his life."

nothing wrong with watching porn, I doubt he was sitting there for a 10 hour session at the family computer in the kitchen, that's when i'd say its an addiction, otherwise it is just normal to look at it.

only bad thing about porn is how women get treated badly in it and it's considered "normal"

Your definition of normal isn't the same as everybody else's definition of normal.

So if you watch porn and masturbate once every day that makes you "addicted"?

So if feel horny and feel like you need some sort of sexual release regularly, you are "addicted"?
Because that just sounds natural behaviour to me.

It didn't mention anything about being damaging to the mind.... misleading title OP.

The video is a story of a kid who felt guilty and ashamed of doing a natural thing because of his Christian faith. There is a lot of scientific evidence that suggests Christians can't enjoy sex as much as atheists because they end up just feeling guilty for some strange and illogical reason.

Btw I lolled at the point where he said he timed his w*nks "masterfully" with that wide eyed opened expression on his face

what scientific evidence show me.

Obviously it is a problem if you view it that way but it sounds pretty normal to me. He went on porn every night and carried on with his life, he 'got good at covering his tracks' in other words deleted history, he didnt tell his mum he went on porn. Loads of guys do all of those.

How is that proof it damages the mind? It didnt say anything about damaging the mind once. It just said people go on porn.

Imagine a world in which kids know about sex!!

You think this is a joke! Children should be children. They shouldn't have to grow up so fast your childhood is one of the most important times of your life no one should ruin it or take that away from you.

People will immediately dismiss this. I'm not saying you're right but i've heard loads about this, I think people should at least consider it

I know, because it's to do with sex it's obviously ****ing awesome in this day and age and anyone who suggests it's bad must be a bat**** religious nutcase.

I grew up with porn. I was basically raised by porn. I had access to as much porn as I could ever want, from the earliest age I wanted it. I left my teens as a total virgin, having barely spoken to a girl, and having lived out the horniest years of my life sat at a computer screen. I'm obliged to acknowledge that the relationship between being addicted to porn and being a social recluse is probably not unidirectional, but I'm fairly sure it has a significant effect.

Yes porn has been around forever, but never in this volume or this accessible, so much variety and so intense. The physiology and psychology of becoming aroused and getting off is very important and fundamental, and interfering with it such as by exposure to hugely unnatural levels and frequency of stimulation surely has some negative effect.

None of you perverts will spare a moment to consider it, so there's a TED talk about this somewhere. And you probably all think TED = truth.

You know babies masturbate, there's no element of sexuality to it, it's like a back massage or scratching an itch it feels good, 13 years olds aren't children btw.

Your teens aren't the horniest years of your life, facial hair is linked to hormones and most teenagers can't grow good beards, now man up and stop blaming porn for the fact you wanted to lose your virginity younger than you did.

Well said. The guys mannerisms only had things in common with a mental illness or addiction because he knew he would be shamed for it, tbh Mormon beliefs can't really be considered moral but that's not the point of the thread.

but their tweenagers

So really they're just curious then rather than being sex crazed porn addicts, most likely because the fake Christians you look up to censor anything to do with sex even if its for educational purposes.

Your teens aren't the horniest years of your life,

Well I'm 25 now and I can safely say that they were, kiddo.

facial hair is linked to hormones

sounds complicated

and most teenagers can't grow good beards

irrelevant, but anyway I was shaving by age 11, thx.

, now man up and stop blaming porn

why?

for the fact you wanted to lose your virginity younger than you did.

well actually the point was that I didn't want to do anything with girls, because I was completely distracted and introverted with my own world of porn.

I'm a girl not a man.
I don't really understand why pornography should be any more addictive or damaging to the mind than actual sex. Surely anything your mind or body experiences while using pornography is going to be experienced just as much, if not more, when actually having sex? What exactly is it about pornography that is supposed to be mentally damaging?

I thought religious opposition to pornography was more for the sake of preserving the dignity of the actors and actresses involved, rather than for the mental health of the users.

So if porn does that, why wouldn't having sex do the same?
(Unless you're suggesting that sex is damaging to the mind too?)
