Hi there

What is 2e^-x integrated?

Many thanks

-2e^-x

It's just the chain rule backwards, as the derivative of -x is -1, so you need to divide by -1 (same as multiplying by -1 as it happens) to work it backwards.

The differentiation of 2 e^-x is simply 2e^-x multiplied by the power of e , (note that with e, the power remains unchanged)
ie 2e^-x dx= -1 times 2e^-x = -2e^-x
With integration you simply divide it by the power of e instead of multiplying it
∫2e^-x dx = 2/-1 e^-x +c = -2e^-x + c

Hope this helps!
