Well done. I have a weakness for it too. I think it's because it's what my Mum's degree in so I've always grown up around it.

You'll have to tell me how it goes / how hard it is. ^_^

I just find it so amazing that chemical structures can hold such importance and even one slight change in the biochemistry can have such an effect

I will, apparently the first module is just like C3 (further chemistry module from GCSE) and is mainly calculations. . .then it gets more difficult in the second mondule :yep:
Hi everyone! I recently decided that I wanted to apply for biological sciences at glasgow/dundee/edinburgh and 2 others I'm not decided on yet  I was gonna apply for biochemistry, but I'm not 100% sure so thought I'd do biology first to see what my interests are in! Do you think this is a good idea? I like biology and chemistry, but want a more biology focused degree, hence me being unsure of biochemistry

:hi: Welcome to the thread!

Biological sciences is such a broad subject and in most universities there is the chance for a deferred specialistion. If I were you I'd take a look at modules on offer at universities and see what interests you e.g. if more modules are molecular biology based or chemistry based then you can have a balance and still have some biochemistry :h:

Good luck with decisions, keep us updated
I absolutely hate biology, good luck all.

Yep I agree with Gem! ^_^ There are so many options it would be easy to make sure it contained bits of biochemistry if that's what you're interested in!

I still can't believe how organised some of you ware. I haven't even started my PS yet haha.

If you need any help feel free to ask me :h:

On a similar note the courses I chose are mainly biochem based

Is it just me that finds the biohemistry of metabolism: glycolysis, link reaction, krebs cycle + electron transport chain absolutely beautiful?
I've just graduated from a BSc biological sciences degree. This thread brings back memories! Good luck everyone

Thanks  I went to UEA in Norwich.

The course was amazing and UEA is known for having a research intensive bio department. I may be a bit biased but I definitely recommend it

I may start firing questions at you (when I have them) if that's okay?

UEA is already one of my choices

Thank you! This is number 3 so I think I've got it down to a fine art now haha, but I haven't done a biology/biomedicine one yet so I may take you up on that.

Kat congratulations on your degree! I know someone there at the moment studying Psychology and they absolutely love it. They're going into their 3rd year. ^_^

The aurora borealis are moreso

I think there's an element of beauty in it. . .it's just me then :erm:
My partner did biology and had it drawn out in pretty colours... like that then yes, yes it definitely has an element of beauty.

Seriously though I do find it really interesting so I can understand that.
