So you actually think that master degree in chemistry from Univeristy of Edinburgh does not close door to many prestigous uni like harvard, caltech, ucla, when it comes to doing Phd later in life? It would probably easier with MSci diploma from ICL but Edinburgh will be ok, as well right? And as you said the experience will be much more enjoyable. . .
Thank you all for the answers. These are really helpful.

Edinburgh is one of the best unis in the world, and is improving every year. It is regarded highly enough that you would be accepted into the likes of UCLA afterwards. I think that if you don't need to worry about finding a job, which is very difficult - especially from abroad - you will have more opportunity to enjoy yourself and/or work harder on the degree.

But Imperial's in a different league, consistently ranked in the top 3 for most of its degrees.

Getting a job is a hassle but if you could juggle it (job and studies) it might do you some good for the future.

I think so. It is a world class university, specialising in science.

It's the UK equivalent of MIT.

Imagine if you applied to MIT and got an offer. Would you turn it down?

Well, I probably would if it costed so much money.
Kidding . Of course I wouldn't. I would do everything I could, to study there. In fact I sometimes regret that I hadn't apply to MIT. = )
