Really quite awful set of questions imo! So i take it that number 7 is whether there is a clash of civilisations?

I think things are looking good for either a nuclear or terrorism question! Maybe that one on iraq too.

For number 7; yes, discuss Huntingdon's Clash of Civilisations thesis. Discuss the fact that there are fundamental differences between civilisations, however, the theory is limited in dividing the world in to arbitrary ideological blocs. For example, whilst Political Islam might seem to be the antithesis of Western Liberalism, it also has contributed to Western culture, and it's fallacious to describe Islam as one homogenous ideology - there are different schools of jurisprudence and sects. Also, as Islam is a religion, it is a lot less easy to compromise with, as with an ideological conflict such as the Cold War (possible synoptic link with 'new terrorism' here). Talk about how Political Islam has been a reaction to Globalisation, Western Human Rights (look at the 1990 Cairo Declaration), and the failures of Socialism, offering a solution to the Middle East's problems (involving an organic society and spiritual reinvigoration), but on the other hand, Globalisation and global governance has also meant that the world is becoming more interdependent/closer together.

Oh, and make sure you address the word 'inevitable'. You'd probably say it wasn't inevitable, but probable/not probable.

Sorry if the above seems rushed.

I'm hoping terrorism with human rights!

That would be a dream! But the exam is hardly predictable - so best to try and revise at least three of the four topics well. Nuclear weapons would be awesome too. Anything on terrorism, war, nuclear weapons, economics or climate change. Cba with human rights. It's just like - nah mate.

Short questions I thought were quite tough. I did religion, cooperation over climate change and universal human rights (flopped that lol). When I saw the global threat to terrorism question I was sooo relieved. How did people answer the terrorism essay question?
International law,
Universal HR
Climate Change
Then global terrorism threat - had in mind to do poverty for a 45marker but the terrorism quesiton was repeat of June 2011 & was going over the very question on my bus ride in so it was all very fresh
